Today’s Scripture
Psalm 1:1-3
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”
The Blessed Man
March 27, 2019
In this first Psalm, we see the Psalmist’s theme for the entire book. He contrasts the godly man (verses 1-3) against the ungodly man (verses 4-5) and concludes in verse 6.
In the first verse, we see what the godly person does not do, namely associate with the ungodly. See how downwardly progressive his description is? Walks not with the sinner, doesn’t stand and congregate with them, and finally doesn’t sit and assemble with them.
Daily Meditation:
What is more attractive to me, the world or God’s law and following it daily?
Prayer:
“Lord, grant me the grace to leave the world behind, and to daily fall deeper and deeper in love with your law. Grant me the strength to walk on your straight and narrow path, and forgive me when I stray from it. Amen.
